TEHRAN – Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in a decree on Monday extended the membership of Ali Shamkhani and Saeed Jalili in the Supreme National Security Council.

According to the Supreme Leader’s website, Ayatollah Khamenei, in line with Article 176 of the Constitution, extended for another term the membership of the two.

Shamkhani was IRGC naval chief and defense minister before going to the council where he now acts as its secretary.

Jalili was also Iran’s chief nuclear negotiator under Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
